ABSTRACT=<p>Sixteen ceanothane-type triterpenoids, including four new compounds—hovendulcisic acids A–D (<bold>1</bold>–<bold>4</bold>) —were purified from the stems of <italic>Hovenia dulcis</italic> Thunb. The structures of <bold>1</bold>–<bold>4</bold> were confirmed by comprehensive means including ECD and quantum chemical calculations. Putative biosynthetic pathways of <bold>1</bold>–<bold>16</bold> were proposed, and <bold>3</bold>, <bold>5</bold>, and <bold>15</bold> exhibited antitumor activity on A549 and MDA-MB-231 cells.</p>
