The structure of loess is an important physical property index, which affects the mechanical properties of soil as well as the particle size, density and humidity of soil. On the basis of the structure index, a new definition of the structural parameter is given according to the methods of loading, disturbance and water immersion to release the structural potential of the soil, which is the ratio of the shear strength of the undisturbed soil under a given stress to that of the reshaped saturated soil. Through conventional triaxial shear tests, the deformation and strength characteristics of undisturbed and remolded specimens with different water contents were tested and analyzed. And then based on the new definition of structural parameters, the soil structural change law was obtained. Finally, the rationality and stability of the proposed new parameter are verified, and it is proved that the parameter is feasible.
