: The 57th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Aphasia will be held at Sofitel Macau in Macau, SAR, October 27-29, 2019. The Academy of Aphasia aims to advance the understanding of aphasia and related disorders through study of the cognitive and neural bases of language function and impairments. From its founding in 1962 and its first meeting in Chicago in 1963, with an initial group of 9 charter members, the Academy has grown to include more than 180 members from both clinical and research fields internationally. The Academy of Aphasia's 57th annual meeting is the first to be held outside of Europe and North America. It welcomes Prof. Lyndsey Nickels of Macquarie University as its keynote speaker, an internationally-recognized researcher in the cognitive neuropsychology of language who has carried out landmark work in the neural and cognitive bases of word production and word-production impairments in aphasia. Now in its second year, the NIDCD-funded Academy of Aphasia conference grant (R13 DC017375-01) sponsors student fellows and a state-of-the-art New Frontiers in Aphasia Research seminar. This year’s speaker for the New Frontiers in Aphasia Research seminar is Dr. Alex Fornito of Monash University, an expert in graph-theoretic analyses of both functional and diffusion MRI data.
