Marjan Slak Rupnik is a researcher and professor at the faculty of medicine and the University of Maribor. He is a member and president of the Slovenian Society of physiology and a board member of the worldwide physiological association. Rupnik is a regular invited lecturer to different universities and has had more than 40 lectures in Europe, North America and Japan. He has authored over 60 papers in reputable international journals. His research work is based in the field of physiology and pathophysiology of insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and tissue models of metabolic diseases like diabetes.
