Brief Profile
Brief Biography
Ryan T. Canolty is a graduate student in the Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute at the University of California, Berkeley. His primary research interests have been exploring the dynamics of neuronal oscillations during complex behavioral tasks and investigating their possible role in neural coding and inter-regional communication. At Berkeley he has had the opportunity to pursue these interests in humans using both scalp-recorded EEG and subdural ECoG recordings, and in nonhumans via intracortical LFPs and single-unit recordings. Before graduate school, he served as an officer at the U.S. Naval Nuclear Power Training Command teaching elementary nuclear physics and thermodynamics. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1998 with a B.S. in Mathematics and Cognitive Neuroscience.
