Brief Profile
Brief Biography
Dr Florian Lesage (Ph. D, 1995) is Senior Research Director at INSERM (French National Health Institute). He is a molecular biologist with extensive experience in ion channel cloning, expression and characterization, in particular in the neurosensory systems. In 1996, in the laboratory of Pr Michel Lazdunski, he has identified a novel class on ion channels called 2P-domain potassium channels (K2P). Located at Institute of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology (IPMC), Sophia-Antipolis, South of France, Florian Lesage`s research group is currently aimed to a better understanding of the structure, physiology and physiopathology of these channels. This includes fundamental approaches (K2P proteomics, gene inactivation) and more clinical aspects (potential role of K2P in genetic and acquired neuronal disorders).
