   Brief Profile
Dr. Ivan Soltesz

Brief Biography
Ivan Soltesz obtained his Diploma in Biology and his Ph.D. in Comparative Physiology from L. Eötvös University in Budapest, Hungary. He is Professor and Chair of Anatomy and Neurobiology at the University of California, Irvine. His research interests are focused on hippocampal interneuronal networks, the role of endocannabinoids, and the physiological basis of long-term hyperexcitability after early life seizures. His laboratory employs a combination of experimental and computational techniques, including simultaneous recordings from multiple, synaptically connected, morphologically identified neurons, and biophysically and anatomically realistic, large-scale network modeling approaches. He is the author of the monograph “Diversity in the Neuronal Machine: Order and Variability in Interneuronal Microcircuits” published in 2006 by Oxford University Press, and co-editor (with K.Staley) of the book “Computational Neuroscience in Epilepsy” published in 2008 by Academic Press.
